For most of our history, final assembly ran through partner factories within an hour of the Shenzhen office. It worked, but every quality problem travelled through a third party before it reached the people who could fix it.
What changed
In 2024 we opened our own site in Dongguan. Assembly, optical alignment, burn-in and final QC now sit under one roof, with our own line supervisors rather than a partner’s.
- Optical alignment in-house — lens decentring is measured on every unit, not sampled per batch.
- Burn-in on every unit — 4 hours at temperature before final test, which catches the early-life failures that otherwise show up in your returns.
- Lead times down — the standard run moved from 30–40 days to 15–25 days for stock platforms.
What did not change
Engineering is still in Shenzhen, five minutes from the airport and the component markets. Prototypes still get built in days. The difference is what happens after the prototype is approved.
